At Ableton, formal strands such as Voice and Sampling worked this way directly: candidates were researched and tagged against a stated brief before proposals went to vote. Retrospective analysis of ACUD Macht Neu's programming surfaced the same structure already at work across years of individual bookings: distinct clusters spanning Free Improv and Noise, SSWANA, Industrial and Punk, and Drone and Minimalism, each internally coherent despite never being planned as a set.
Genre range extends into traditional and historical forms with the same weight given to contemporary and experimental practice. Programming has included Ghanaian gyil playing, Persian tombak percussion, Arabic maqam and oud practice, and West African highlife, booked alongside Berlin noise and deconstructed club music on equal footing.
Diversity and inclusivity are built into program design rather than added afterward. No Shade was founded to open DJ training specifically to women, trans, and non-binary artists. Amplify Berlin's mentor and mentee selection treated access as a structural goal from the outset. Diaspora club scenes, including batida, gqom, and highlife, were booked at ACUD as vanguard practice holding the same stage as everything else on the bill.
Formats range from single DJ sets to multi-part residencies spanning years. ACUD delivered up to 150 events annually across concerts and club nights. Amplify Berlin produced 60 tracks, 30 radio shows, and 40 live and digital events over four years. Work with individual artists has extended into full album curation, commissioning outside collaborators to rework and extend existing bodies of work.
